Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada but grew up in the United States. She's worked as an editor since the year 1995. Feminist Frequency is a website which hosts video and commentary on the representation of female characters in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Feminist Frequency is a site for education that examines women's roles in pop culture narratives was the result of her research. Additionally, she serves as the executive director. She's determined to dismantle stereotypes of women as they appear in popular culture. In addition she has a mission to increase the awareness of harassment on social media targeted at women and those who are marginalized. Sarkeesian, who holds the degree of Master's in the field of Social and Political Thought from York University, is a sought after public speakers. She has spoken at TEDxWomen XOXO festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. From an early age Sarkeesian was captivated by the issue of gender identity as well as feminist ideas. When she was still in school, in 2009 she started her Feminist Frequency Website. She had a plan to create an online program that would examine the gender roles in games however, she was also the subject of an online harassment campaign. The attack did not stop her from pursuing the project, and instead it bolstered her determination as feminist media critic. To honor the numerous contributions she has made to feminist movements, she has been awarded numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award award-winning journalist. She is also the founder and director of Feminist Frequency a nonprofit educational organisation that studies pop culture representations of females.
